Illustration Friday: Breakfast

I painted breakfast on a blue plate on a wooden table. I used acrylic paint. The pink strips are bacon.

Paste paper

This is my paste paper collection

Animals

My animals are a yellow fish with white stripes, a shark, and a starfish

Blank shadow box

Shadow Box Biome - Coral reef

The pictures show:
1. Close up of the coral. The coral has salt sprinkled on it when I was making the paste paper. I also have another piece on top of it. The second piece is angled out towards the viewer. (top left)

2. The side of the shadow box on all sides is just blue. (top right)

3. This shows the front of the shadow box biome. The shark appears small because it is in the distance (also, its at the top). The amount of visible vegetation is limited in the ocean, so i made three stalks of seaweed. Enjoy! (bottom)

Thumbnail sketches

These show in order :
1. just coral
2. a lobster on a rock
3. seaweed on the left, and an orange fish
4. yellow coral on the left, with a starfish on a rock
5. a fish, a plant, and coral on a rock.

Air/Sky & Animals

This picture shows lots of open air and small fish near a coral reef.

Land & Animals

Coral reefs are made from millions of coral skeletons that form into a rock-like structure. It comes in various colors such as orange, pink, green, and blue. Most colors seem to be faded.Small fish, sharks, starfish, sponges, lobsters, shrimp, sea turtle, and myriad other tropical fish inhabit coral reefs. Over 4,000 different species of fish inhabit coral reefs. Coral reefs are typically found in shallow depths in tropical water.

Air/Sky & Vegetation

Seaweed is a plant made of algae. It grows in the sea (go figure). "seaweed" is a broad term, encompassing many kinds of red, brown, and green algae.

Ambiguous Space Self and peer critique

Self: I think I did well on this assignment and did a good job of expressing each concept overall. I could have improved by dulling the warm colors around the edge like I did with the cool colors.

Nobody else has uploaded their work yet, and I will update this once they have.

Complementary color study

I mixed yellow and purple to create a brown color.

Illustration Friday: Midsummer Night

I painted "midsummer night" by drawing the beach at night. Everything except the sky was made of acrylic paint. The sky was made of watercolor. The ocean looks black in this picture, but it is actually dark blue.

Ambiguous Space

I demonstrated ambiguous space my crossing warm colors and filling in the blank areas with cool colors. The top right and bottom left cool color sections were dull by mixing them with their complementary color. The top left corner was mixed with white to create a tint. The bottom right corner was mixed with black to make a shade. The colors in the center are the most vibrant.

Two Point perspective

This two point perspective drawing depicts the corner of my room. There is a window on the right. There is a door and an electrical outlet on the left.

One point perspective

This is a one point perspective drawing of the tv and speakers in my basement. There are two windows on the left, and one door on the right.

Illustration Friday: Bottled

To illustrate "bottled", I painted a bottle on a wooden table. I used acrylic paint for the bottle and table, colored pencil for the grass, and watercolor for the sky. I also experimented with what we learned about depth by putting the bottle towards the bottom/middle of the painting to make it look like it was close. I also made the table appear three dimensional to make it look like it has depth.

My Photocollage

Time is demonstrated through the different amounts of shade on each branch because of the time of day. The hand on the side of the tree is my hand. The positive space is my hand. the negative space is the area around it. The bed around the tree is made up of 15+ photos and over 60 were taken.

Photography Assignment: shape, space, and form

Geometric shape^ the picture frame is a rectangle
Aerial perspective^
Negative space^ enclosed by wooden posts

One point perspective^

organic shape^- the legs of the glass table

Illustration Friday: Launch

I decided to use only watercolor paints for everything except the red parts of the rocket. It was July 4th, so I painted a firework with a burning fuse.

Contour line self critique

I do not think I “mastered” anything in one day, but I now understand the concept of contour line drawing. I need to improve the steadiness of my hand. I also need to improve my ability to have my hand follow my eyes more precisely. I think that I understand all of the concepts, I am just not good at them.

Photmontage: My Family!

I pasted my Dad's head onto atlas because he is a hard worker all the time. I placed Brian's head onto a hunter's head because he enjoys hunting and being in the woods in general. I pasted my Mom's head on a chef because she is a good cook. I placed my head on a spartan's head from halo because I enjoy video games. The center is a panorama of the valley beside our mountain house. I surrounded the panorama with watercolor paint.

Illustration friday: "Stir"

I showed the word "stir in this illustration by showing a wooden spoon stir all of the colors together. I used watercolor paint for this illustration.

Illustration Friday: "Swarm"

My illustration for "swarm" shows a swarm of ants taking crumbs away from a cookie. This was inspired by me seeing a bunch of ants carrying crumbs back into their ant hill.

Illustration Friday: "Sweater"

My drawing of sweater has nothing to do with an article of clothing or any feeling or memory it invokes. Instead, I drew sweater as "one who sweats". This drawing shows a USA Track runner approaching the finish line. The sun beats down on him, causing the sweat that you see on his apendages.
