Shadow Box Biome - Coral reef
The pictures show:
1. Close up of the coral. The coral has salt sprinkled on it when I was making the paste paper. I also have another piece on top of it. The second piece is angled out towards the viewer. (top left)
2. The side of the shadow box on all sides is just blue. (top right)
3. This shows the front of the shadow box biome. The shark appears small because it is in the distance (also, its at the top). The amount of visible vegetation is limited in the ocean, so i made three stalks of seaweed. Enjoy! (bottom)

Most colors seem to be faded.Small fish, sharks, starfish, sponges, lobsters, shrimp, sea turtle, and myriad other tropical fish inhabit coral reefs. Ambiguous Space Self and peer critique
Self: I think I did well on this assignment and did a good job of expressing each concept overall. I could have improved by dulling the warm colors around the edge like I did with the cool colors.
Nobody else has uploaded their work yet, and I will update this once they have.
Illustration Friday: Midsummer Night
Ambiguous Space
I demonstrated ambiguous space my crossing warm colors and filling in the blank areas with cool colors. The top right and bottom left cool color sections were dull by mixing them with their complementary color. The top left corner was mixed with white to create a tint. The bottom right corner was mixed with black to make a shade. The colors in the center are the most vibrant.

Illustration Friday: Bottled
To illustrate "bottled", I painted a bottle on a wooden table. I used acrylic paint for the bottle and table, colored pencil for the grass, and watercolor for the sky. I also experimented with what we learned about depth by putting the bottle towards the bottom/middle of the painting to make it look like it was close. I also made the table appear three dimensional to make it look like it has depth.

Contour line self critique
I do not think I “mastered” anything in one day, but I now understand the concept of contour line drawing. I need to improve the steadiness of my hand. I also need to improve my ability to have my hand follow my eyes more precisely. I think that I understand all of the concepts, I am just not good at them.

Photmontage: My Family!
I pasted my Dad's head onto atlas because he is a hard worker all the time. I placed Brian's head onto a hunter's head because he enjoys hunting and being in the woods in general. I pasted my Mom's head on a chef because she is a good cook. I placed my head on a spartan's head from halo because I enjoy video games. The center is a panorama of the valley beside our mountain house. I surrounded the panorama with watercolor paint.
