Illustration Friday: "Swarm"

My illustration for "swarm" shows a swarm of ants taking crumbs away from a cookie. This was inspired by me seeing a bunch of ants carrying crumbs back into their ant hill.

Illustration Friday: "Sweater"

My drawing of sweater has nothing to do with an article of clothing or any feeling or memory it invokes. Instead, I drew sweater as "one who sweats". This drawing shows a USA Track runner approaching the finish line. The sun beats down on him, causing the sweat that you see on his apendages.

Illustration Friday: "Reverse"

When I saw the word "reverse", the first thing I thought of was Uno, the card game. I made the entire sheet of paper look like a reverse card from Uno. In the center, I drew a sun and a moon combined into one figure. The sun and moon are depicted as opposites in this drawing. The paper clips in the corner are only there to hold the ends from curving upwards.

P.S. Does anyone like the name "Lunasol" to describe this part-moon-part-sun?

A collage about me!

This represents me in many ways. Obviously, I love to wrestle. there are many pictures of me wrestling or at a wrestling tournament. There are also many pictures of me with my family, particularly my brother. Those are included because I love to pend time with my family. Also, the orange "14" is there because I am 14 years old.

Illustration Friday "Shadow"

EDIT: There is an acutal shadow on my artwork that was not drawn on the paper. It runs along the man's neck and the bottom-right corner of the picture frame.

My experience with illustrating "shadow" had a great "Ah-ha!" moment in it. At first, I tried to draw people or objects casting a shadow. I could never get it to look quite right. After a frustrating realization that my I could not, for the life of me draw a good shadow, I thought of a classic moment in movies when you see a wall with a shadow of a person and an arm holding a knife behind them, preparing to kill the unsuspecting victim. So, I set to work at drawing the suspenceful scene. I also clipped a picture of a family out of a magazine and put it on to the paper with a picture frame around it. I did this to contrast the two different planes (in terms of depth).
